Chagall - I and the Village (1911)
A scene captured, a significance created
A medium to be tried, a moment to be tricked, to be tracked
These figures fractioned, these dependencies discovered
As a life settled, as a lingering signified
Here the colors control, the forms configure
The composition shows, the relations shout
The village depicts, the labor describes
The ways of the shadows, the wanderings of the scenes
The developed picture, the discovered presence
The devoted farmers, the driven upkeep
And a captured essence, a collaborated event
